The new 'Otzar HaHochma' Site - information for institutions

Otzar HaHochma is proud to announce the launch of the long-awaited Otzar HaHochma Site!
Access the site at: http://www.otzar.org/otzar.asp , or through our site www.otzar.org by clicking “Enter Otzar Online” on the homepage.

  • Otzar HaHochma boasts a user-friendly and incredibly fast interface.
  • The 'Otzar HaHochma site' enables using Otzar HaHochma without downloading software to your PC.
  • Users with Macintosh computers will now be able to access Otzar HaHochma with their browser.
  • The new site now allows for Concurrent-User Licensing for institutions. Students and faculty will be able to access Otzar HaHochma through your institution's IP range using EZ-Proxy.

Information about the Otzar HaHochma Site

Otzar HaHochma is the world's largest digital library of more than 42,000 Judaic books.

The digital library contains scanned books and manuscripts encompassing all realms of Judaism from ancient times to the modern period.

The books are scanned page after page, in their original format.
Otzar HaHochma's sophisticated search engine based on Optical Character Recognition (OCR) with a very high precision rate is the optimal tool for browsing the library.

The digital library consists of old and rare books, first editions, rare publications, memorial volumes , journals and copyrighted books.

FEATURES

Search: The library is indexed by a wide range of topics and offers the following search options:

  • Search by title or author.
  • Text search by word, word combinations, etc.
  • Advanced search options including full and omitted spelling, word spacing, etc.

Always have your search results available!
The results of any search you perform will be available in a convenient tab format for instant reference, whenever you want! Click on a result to browse that source.

Print: Printing options.

Outlines: Thousands of books in the Otzar HaHochma collection now have an outline pane to conveniently reference sections and subsections. Save time scrolling, just click on the outline entry to open the correct place!

These features are currently available in the Otzar HaHochma software and will be added to the 'Otzar HaHochma site' in the near future.

  • Hyperlinks: Developed with state-of-the-art technology, Hyperlinks enables researchers to locate sources for quick and accurate cross-referencing. Click on a highlighted book name quoted in the text, and a popup window will appear with the source, already open to the right page!
  • Scan-to-text conversion: Converts the scanned page images to text files using OCR technology.
  • Effortlessly access commentaries on Shas, Shulchan Aruch, and Torah Portions:
    • Instantly access all Shas commentaries in the Otzar HaHochma library by selecting Tractate, page (daf) and page-side(amud).
    • Access all Shulchan Aruch commentaries in the Otzar HaHochma library by selecting Section and Chapter (siman).
    • Access all Torah commentaries by selecting the name of the Torah portion.
      The commentary will be listed in the search results panel. Simply click on the result listing to open the commentary to the correct page and passage!

Purchase of a user license:

Concurrent User Licenses may be purchased from Otzar HaHochma to allow any number of your students or faculty access Otzar Online.


The Otzar HaHochma license is based on the number of simultaneous users accessing Otzar HaHochma.
Students and instructors will have access through your institution’s IP range using EZ-proxy.
